What We Do
Shades is involved in many professional endeavors both on and off campus. We prioritize our rehearsals and performances and treat them with professionalism. But above all else, we value the time we spend together as a group of friends with a common mission to bring a cappella music to the Penn State community.
Rehearsals
Shades of Blue rehearses 2 times a week...
Wednesdays 8pm - 10pm
Sundays 12pm - 3pm
On-Campus Gigs
Shades of blue is contacted by many organizations and leading figures on campus to perform. Our most recent on-campus gig was requested by President Bendapudi, the current PSU President.
Off-Campus Gigs
In addition to on-campus opportunities, Shades of Blue performs for a wide array of off-campus audiences. Some of our most recent gig inquiries involve performing at nursing homes, weddings, hotels, and other locations.
Football Games
Shades of Blue can be found performing outside of Family Clothesline on select game days. These performances last about an hour in length, and occur the morning prior to each game.
Concerts
Shades performs at a variety of professional concerts every year. These include our own biannual Shades concerts, a cappella sampler, THON showcase, and other performances.
THON
In recent years, Shades has been given the opportunity to perform at THON in the Bryce Jordan Center. In addition to this, for the past two years we have performed at the annual THON showcase in Schwab Auditorium. These performances give us the chance to support a cause that holds a special place in our hearts. We adore performing FTK!
